Gosh darn it, in the words of Bilbo Baggins, it was "a night to remember."
We are all pumped for the happy couple and they are off on their honeymoon now.
But then the day was over.
The tent came down, and the guests went home.
And I felt sad.
Sad that it was all over.ย
Sad cuz suddenly it felt like it was all behind us and I wasn't sure what was ahead...
It was't really over, of course.
Because weddings are just beginnings and not endings at all.
Weird thing about this world is that something always has to end to make room for the new, even better thing to begin.
After marriage comes kids, and that might be the best thing ever besides going to heaven.
And speaking of heaven, you have to leave this life behind to get in there, and that gets sad too, especially when other people leave before you do.
Oh dear, this was supposed to be a happy email, and now I'm not sure if it is.
ย
But maybe this quote from C.S Lewis I've been thinking about will help turn it around.
I heard it a long time ago and then my brother said it again, and it always makes me feel better.
I don't know what it's from but it goes:
โThere are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.โ
That doesn't sound so bad.
When I read that I feel better and I'm excited for those next things ahead -- people, places, a new brother, new little people, and maybe finally some new products this fall:)
Well, I guess that's all.ย
Sometimes happy things are a bit sad, and I guess that's what I wanted to say, and maybe some of you needed to hear that too.
Unfortunately, we didn't make enough "Wedding F-Balm" for you guys, so please don't be sad about that.
But we do have lots of the regularย F-Balmย and other products in stock, including ourย premium tallow soapย back and our new "Summer Bundle," which is really nice.
Thanks if you read this far. I feel better after writing it already, and I'm excited for what's next.
Cheers to the happy couple and to the far better things that lie ahead for them and for all of you.
In truth and tallow,
Ben
