A great product starts with the best ingredients

A great product starts with the best ingredients!

The main ones are of course tallow, and then Canadian raw honey and beeswax!

Tallow

Tallow has gotten pretty popular these days, and with that a whole lot of fake stuff has popped up. I'm talking bleached tallow, petroleum jelly disguised as tallow, and I-don't-even-know-what-mixtures shipping out of China that call themselves tallow. We're not about any of that.

We work with a Canadian partner to get the best Canadian stuff there is. Our tallow is unbleached, grass-fed and finished, and triple-purified to get rid of any beefy scent.

Tallow

Our tallow is double rendered for purity and quality.

1

Raw fat - Liquid

The raw fat is rendered to separate it from all the 'meaty' bits. Then it goes through multiple rounds of purification and filtering to remove any leftover proteins (the stuff that can cause tallow to go rancid over time).

2

Purifying

The tallow goes through a wet-rendering process with water and sea salt. The sea salt acts as a natural purifier. This method is a little more time-consuming and so a lot of people skip it but it's worthwhile because this way you avoid any chemicals!

Dry-rendered tallow also often has a stronger beefy smell, that needs a whole bunch of added fragrances to cover up. And we're not about that! We'll have no hormone disrupters here, thank you very much

From the Hive

We use 100% Canadian beeswax and honey. Our honey is locally sourced here in Ontario, gathered from the many varieties of plants in the Kawartha Lakes. It comes from our awesome beekeeping partner, Jerry. Jerry is a local beekeeper who has 1,000 hives in multiple locations around the Kawartha Lakes!

Once we get the honey, we're careful not to overheat when mixing so it keeps all of its raw, unpasteurized goodnessโ€“live enzymes and healthy bacteria!

We're making new batches of F-Balm all the time!

We schedule our production days alongside our fulfillment forecast, so you're always getting a freshly made F-Balm. Here's a breakdown of the process from Kevin, our production boss!

Mixing

1

First we load up our Tallow into a melting tank, then add our pre-melted beeswax once the tallow has melted

2

Once the two are mixed, we add Extra Virgin Olive Oil and mix again.

3

After a brief cooling period, the mixture is ready for honey. we're careful not to overheat things so as to keep all the rich nutrients of the honey.

4

The final ingredient to be mixed in is Frankincense Essential Oil.

5

Once the mixture reaches a smooth texture, it's ready for dispensing. Next, it's on to tinning and labelling!

Our piston filler portions the perfect amount of product into each tin.

2

Each tin is lidded, labeled, and double-checked before being sent on to be sealed.

3

Every tin is date coded with a 'Best Before' date and Batch Code so we know exactly when it was made and which batch it came from.

4

A tamper-proof shrink band is placed around the tin, and it's ready for fulfillment. Time to get you your F-Balm!
